About Me

The Shultis's

A little back story...

When David and I met, I knew he was special and that we were going to be together forever.  After a little over a year of dating he proposed (two days before my sister's wedding in October 2005). A few weeks after my sister's wedding we found out that my Dad had stage 4 esophageal cancer.  Along with the thousand other thoughts going through my head I knew that I needed my Dad to walk me down the isle at our wedding.  So our November 2006 wedding turned into February 2006.  After talking to my Dad's doctor the wedding got moved up to November 2005.  My amazing sister planned the whole wedding for me in Florida.  We had a very small wedding where my Dad got to walk me down the isle on the beach and I couldn't have been happier.

When we got back I decided that I needed to try to have a baby before my Dad passed and my husband agreed.  Within a month of being married we were pregnant with our precious Anthony.  About the same time my Dad started his treatment, so I left my senior year of college to focus on the time I did have with my dad.  As his health started to worsen I left my job and my husband and I moved in with my parents so I could be there to take care of my Dad.  My Dad lost his battle after 8 months, just two months before Anthony was born.  In that time I was able to get to know my Dad on a level that I never thought to before and I am very thankful for that.

Since my Dad has passed we have gone through a lot of changes.  We had Anthony in 2006 and Logan in 2008.  We have lived in 4 different states in a period of 2 years (no, my husband is not military).

Why this Blog??

I call myself a "real housewife" because I am pretty far from the housewives you see on Bravo (even though I love the shows).  I don't live in a big fancy house, I don't go to fancy parties and I don't have non stop drama in my life.  I do however, LOVE my family and taking care of them.  I love being able to have dinner ready for my husband when he gets home from a long day of work.  With the "loves" come the "have tos"...but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I was not the girl who loved baby sitting when I was growing up, but I always knew I wanted a family.  So being a stay at home mom/ "housewife" was a little bit of adjustment for me, even though it was by choice.  So during this process of becoming a wife and a mom at almost the same time I have had a lot of trial and error.  So I thought that I would take my trial and error and let others learn from it.  That's not all you will see here.  I try new things all the time! Whether it be recipes I find on Pinterest, DIY projects or things I hear through the grapevine and want to try. So follow along as I revisit some old trial and errors and conquer new ones.

Love,
Ashley
